Zeta Amicae of Jackson
AMICAE AUXILIARY (FRIENDS OF ZETA)- As early in the 1940, graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority began to realize the importance of the prestige, good will, and cooperation of women who, for various reasons were not members of any Greek-lettered organization. Under the leadership of the 12th International President, Lullelia W. Harrison, the first Amicae chapter was organized in Omaha, Nebraska in 1947 making Zeta the first sorority in the National Pan-Hellenic Council to organize an auxiliary group. Zeta graduate chapters were allowed to organize auxiliaries that would be known as Zeta Amicae. These groups render valuable services to the sorority and their respective communities. These groups are located in areas where there are active chapters of Zeta.
Amicae are women who believe in and support the ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., but have not completed a college degree or attended college. The Zeta Amicae group was established as an official auxiliary of Zeta Phi Beta during the 1948 National Convention (Grand Boule).
On August 5, 1957, Alpha Delta Zeta received a charter for its first Amicae group. The charter was signed by Soror Deborah C. Partridge (Wolf), 12th International Basileus, Soror Lullelia W. Harrison, National Grammateus and Soror Julia S. Polk, Chapter Basileus. The Amicae Auxiliary of Jackson is comprised of women who support Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Delta Zeta Chapter in serving our local community. Alpha Delta Zeta Chapter chartered its first Jackson Amicae Auxiliary on October 2, 1957 in Jackson, MS.
